The Tortoise and the Hare
The hare laughed at the tortoise for being so slow. So the tortoise challenged him to a race, and the hare agreed with a grin.
The hare bolted ahead, then decided there was time for a nap. The tortoise just kept walking — step, after step, after step.
When the hare woke up, the tortoise was already crossing the finish line.
Moral: Slow and steady wins the race.
A Hare one day ridiculed the short feet and slow pace of the Tortoise, who replied, laughing: "Though you be swift as the wind, I will beat you in a race." The Hare, deeming her assertion to be simply impossible, assented to the proposal; and the Fox selected the course and fixed the goal. On the day appointed for the race the two started together. The Tortoise never for a moment stopped, but went on with a slow but steady pace straight to the end of the course. The Hare, trusting to his native swiftness, lay down by the wayside and fell fast asleep. At last waking up, he found that the Tortoise had reached the goal.
